The host Lady Golden Eagles took the first two sets in close fashion while the Lady Cavaliers took charge to capture sets three and four to play a do or die fifth set.
EB led as much as 5-3 and 6-4 in attempting to complete the come from behind victory but Surry Central still had some grit and strength left to hang on and end the Lady Cavaliers season.
EB seniors Erica Clontz, Graleigh Hildebran, and Riley Haas were key to keep the scoring close for the Lady Cavs in the early sets with fellow seniors Ashlyn Stilwell and Kendall Buff each registering a serving ace.
Haas (3 blocks, kill) and Clontz (2 kills) led the charge at the net to set up the comeback to pick up a winning set.
Surry Central led early on in the fourth set with Haas, Clontz, Hildebran, Buff, and Erin Newton going to work as a play by Haas ultimately gave EB a late advantage to knot up the playoff matchup 2-2.
Two of Clontz team-high 19 kills came in the fifth set to give EB leads of 5-3 and 6-4 until the hosts rallied off the next six of seven points while EB only had three more possessions only to get within one point of the lead twice.
Clontz finished the season with a school-record total of 369 kills while also contributing 12 digs and three blocks in her final game.
Haas went double in her last volleyball game at EB recording 17 blocks and 12 kills.
The Lady Cavaliers finished with an overall record of 16-8, their best win total in three seasons with the Northwestern Foothills 2A Conference.
