Bulldogs win 3rd annual Wildcat 7-on-7 Inv

Valdese- The field was filled with competition for the third annual Wildcat 7-on-7 Invitational Saturday at DHS.

The Burns High Bulldogs won this year's tournament championship by winning over the Wildcats, East Lincoln, and Freedom.

"We're just trying to improve each day and we liked coming up here to improve on our passing game and our defense a little bit and at the same time win," said Burns coach David Devine.

The Bulldogs also went 4-1 in the morning's pool play to claim the second seed behind Freedom (5-1).

The Wildcats had a 2-3 mark in pool play to be seeded sixth in tournament play.

Other teams attending included Newton-Conover, Hunter Huss, Starmount, Highland Tech, and Fred T. Foard

"This is a great tournament and the field was filled with competitive teams," said Draughn coach Chris Powell. "We got some good work out of it and were very happy with the way it went today."
