Morganton- After winning three meets, the East Burke cross country team settled for a fifth-place finish at Saturday's Freedom Invitational.
The Cavaliers scored 160 total points and were led by Logan Shuford (17th, 18:09.21) and Luke Elliott (18th, 18:15.43) with Ayden Lingerfelt (36th, 18:38.39), Shane Feamster (43rd, 19:19.62), Clay Seagle (50th, 19:36.80), and Caleb-Johnson White (58th, 19:57.53) finishing the 5K race under 20 minutes.
Senior Tommy Blackwell well represented the eighth place Wildcats (212) with a seventh-place finish in the boys 5K with a time of 17:38.93.
Other key Draughn runners included Reed Farrar (21st, 18:18.60) Andrew Albright (44th, 19:24.30), and Ben Teffeteler (54th, 19:46.30).
In the girls 5K race, freshman Mekenzie Harris (24:23.32) led the Lady Cavs with a 49th place finish with Meah Walsh (51st, 24:33.95), and Gracie Ruff (56th, 24:46.87) finishing behind Harris.
East Burke junior Jake Bevins placed 55th (22:01.87) in the JV boys 5K race.
Draughn and East Burke both travel Tuesday to West Iredell for their next Northwestern Foothills 2A Conference meet.
