Baker's Dozen Podcast Episode 1 recap

Georgia vs Alabama National Championship rematch

"This has already been a year where a former Nick Saban assistant was able to win against him (Jimbo Fisher)"

-Jason Baker

"(Nick Saban) is one of the smartest coaches, I would say he's top five all-time"

-Jon Ray

Nick Saban is 25-1 against his former assistant coaches as Jimbo Fisher was the first to beat his former mentor in a Texas A&M 41-38 win over Alabama on October 9th, 2021.

Kirby Smart coached with Saban at LSU (2004 defensive backs) and Alabama (2007-15) with being his defensive coordinator from 08-15 and also with the Miami Dolphins in 2006.

The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide met for the National Championship in 2018 with Alabama winning 26-23 in overtime.

The State of Wrestling in 2022

"WWE kind of dropped the ball during the pandemic and AEW picked it up and ran with it."

"it's been nice to see some good promos between Edge and The Miz, WWE having good storytelling and promos is something they are lacking."

"(Kyle O'Reilly's AEW debut) I feel like adds a new dimension to not only AEW but drives a wedge between The Elite because you have Adam Cole torn between his Bullet Club members The Young Bucks and his Undisputed Era brethren Bobby Fish and O'Reilly."

-Zach Colburn

"Now there's competition and competition is good (between AEW and WWE) and AEW is building their following and WWE will always have their following"

-Jon Ray

Pro Wrestling seems to have had a successful 2020 landscape with AEW and WWE leading the way as NWA, Impact, and other minor promotions are following behind.

All three of the podcast correspondents during this segment each made their own wrestling goal for the upcoming year

Jason Baker likes to see the WWE succeed this year as they have struggled in losing viewers and having to make major cuts

Zach Colburn likes to see a new WWE star on the radar such as Bron Breakker, the son of Rick Steiner.

U.S. medalist Gable Steveson is also expected to soon debut after signing with WWE.

Jon Ray likes to see Will Ospreay appear on a major promotion like AEW or WWE as he is currently signed to New Japan Pro Wrestling and also appeared in Ring of Honor

The future of the Carolina Panthers

"Cam isn't Cam anymore, he just needs to move on and I don't think he will be back next season."

"I'm over having Matt Ruhle (as the head coach), I don't think the pro game was meant for him at all"

-Jon Ray

The Panthers currently have a 5-11 mark heading into the finale at Tampa Bay and the offseason looks to have major restructure involving many changes.

The question is who should stay or who should go?
