Lady Raiders remain undefeated after win at Heritage

Valdese- The rivalry battle between East Burke Middle and Heritage Middle resumed on the hardwood Monday at HMS as the Lady Raiders held a slim 15-8 halftime lead.

Thanks to nine second-half points by Ally Moore, EBMS remained undefeated on the season after slaying the Lady Eagles 38-25.

"The halftime speech was just we don't play two bad halves," said EBMS coach Steve Moore. "We just made second-half adjustments and got hot with our shooting."

East Burke (6-0, 4-0 FAC) led 11-3 after one quarter off six points from Braelyn Stilwell with Heritage winning the second quarter 5-4 as Jenna Abernathy (3) and Taylor Holder (2) scored for HMS in the quarter of play.

Stilwell made a third-quarter three-point shot to finish with ten points for the Lady Raiders as Moore recorded a game-high 11 points.

Abernathy led HMS with nine points and Rylee Woody adding eight.

Boys Basketball: East Burke 40, Heritage 28
The Raiders started out with an 11-2 first quarter off baskets from Jacob Dellinger, Zack Crawford, Gawon Franklin, Barge Shook, and Darren Hammons to gain a road win over the Eagles.

Crawford (15) and Dellinger (10) were the double-digit leading scorers for EBMS with Shook adding seven.

Jacob Mull led HMS with seven points and Blair Cooper adding six.

Wrestling: East Burke 84, Heritage 18
The Raiders also dominated the Eagles on the wrestling mat winning nine matches by pinfall which were won by Zach Ward (98), Malachi Bines (120), Zane Taylor (126), Lincoln Pierce (132), Sam Huffman (138), Danny Powell (152), Joshua Hess (160), Deegan Moore (220), and Brady Bostain (250).

EBMS (3-1, 2-1 FAC) also had six other match-winners Eastyn Huffman (83, forfeit), Scott Little (90, forfeit), Grayson Phillips (106, minor decision), Brandon Garcia (113, minor decision), Connor Mobley (145, forfeit), and Chris Moore (182, forfeit).
