Morganton- Draughn junior Reed Farrar is making the 2020 Northwestern Foothills cross country season a league of his own winning his second consecutive meet Tuesday at Patton High School.
Farrar's time of 17:39.72 bested his time of 18:54.32 ran at Bunker Hill last week.
The course at Patton started in the football stadium and led to two laps around the campus before taking a lap on the football stadium's track.
"I've been putting the work in this summer (to prepare for this season)," said Farrar. "There's been a lot of obstacles but I've been hoping to do well in the way I performed."
The Wildcats scored 28 points to win as a team for the second week in a row as Andrew Albright (3rd, 18:43.25), Grady Wooden (4th, 19:40.95), and Jonathan Garcia (8th, 20:34.42) were leading finishers.
East Burke (51) finished third with a two-point difference behind second-place Patton and was led by Luke Elliott (2nd, 18:16.05), Caleb Johnson-White (5th, 20:01.22), and Davin Price (9th, 20:47.07).
The East Burke girls finished second (32) and were led by Meah Walsh (2nd, 21:39.03) and Piper Strong (4th, 24:44.64).
Leading performers for the Lady Wildcats included Ambria Blalock (3rd, 24:20.63) and Regen Bridges (5th, 24:49.91).
Draughn next travels to Hibriten next Tuesday while East Burke visits Foard.
