The East Burke Middle School girls basketball team completed a sweep of Heritage Middle Thursday on Eighth Grade Night in a game played at East Burke High.
The Lady Raiders (12-0, 11-0 FAC) built a commanding 16-6 lead over the Lady Eagles behind six points from Ally Moore.
Free throws from Moore, Braelyn Stilwell, and Kamiah Lawing continued to build the lead for EBMS despite Jenna Abernathy and Rylee Woody each dropping a three-pointer for HMS to cut into the advantage.
The second half belonged to the Lady Raiders outscoring the Lady Eagles 10-6 and 14-6 as Stilwell led with a team-high 14 points and Lawing recorded her second double-double of the week (12 points, 10 rebounds).
Moore (7) and Kassie Turner (5) were other key scorers for EBMS, heading into their season finale at East McDowell next Thursday.
Woody finished with a game-high 16 points off three 3-pointers in the second half.

Boys Basketball: East Burke 38, Heritage 16
The Raiders completed their season sweep over the Eagles building a 15-4 halftime lead and never looked back.
Jacob Dellinger and Gavon Franklin each led EBMS with eight points, capped by Dellinger scoring two fourth-quarter baskets.
Malachi Silver led HMS with five points as Silver and Tate Jensen each hit a three-pointer for the Eagles.
Wrestling: East Burke 60, Heritage 42
The Raiders (6-6, 5-6 FAC) evened their overall mark gaining a road win on the Eagles mats to complete the season sweep.
Zach Ward, Malachi Bines, Zane Taylor, Joshua Hess, and Brady Bostain all won by pinfall for EBMS with other match-winners including Eastyn Huffman (forfeit), Scott Little (forfeit), Grayson Phillips (minor decision), Brandon Garcia (minor decision), Sam Huffman (forfeit), and Chris Moore (forfeit).
Phillips and Hess still hold 11-0 marks heading into their final match at home next Thursday vs East McDowell.
