Valdese Rec Pool gets resurface job after 20 years

Valdese- After 20 years, Valdese Recreation Pool director David Andersen saw it was needing a new resurface job so it can continue to be in operation for the next ten to twenty years.

"Resurfacing is something that needs to be done every once in a while to make sure there are no cracks or leaks that would cause a larger problem for us," said Andersen.

"This helped us to make sure the integrity of the pool is good and we have a nice smooth surface and we wouldn't have any growth or anything of that nature."

Andersen credits Chris Mozeley, who was also contracted with the Valdese Rec in building the splash pad.

"We are now in a position to stay open and not have any issues for quite a while," said Andersen. "It's been a process and Public Works did a great job with us to help put the bubble up and not have a second closure."

As the pool is now back open for operation in the bubble, the high school swimming season begins November 20th with East Burke hosting Patton and West Iredell.
