Morganton- The East Burke boys cross country team tied the 2017 team, which qualified for the 2A state championships as a team, with five 5K meet wins after Wednesday's first-place finish at Western Piedmont Community College.
Luke Elliott (3rd, 18:22.40) and Logan Shuford (4th, 18:28.78) led the way for the Cavaliers (35) with Clay Seagle (7th, 19:50.97), Shane Feamster (10th, 20:03.40), Ayden Lingerfelt (11th, 20:12.58), and Caleb-Johnson White (18th, 21:03.50) finishing in the top 20.
Tommy Blackwell was again the top runner for Draughn (3rd, 62) placing second with a time of 17:54.13.
Reed Farrar (6th, 18:43.60), Andrew Albright (8th, 19:51.13), and Ben Teffeteller (16th, 20:38.53) were other key Wildcat runners.
The Lady Cavaliers (46) finished runner-up to host Patton and were led at the finish line by Mekenzie Harris (6th, 26:16.78), Meah Walsh (7th, 26:17.00), and Gracie Ruff (8th, 26:18.00).
Regan Bridges (14th, 27:43.24) and Brittany Hathaway (23rd, 29:40.70) were the top runners for the Lady Wildcats (6th, 131).
