Valdese- The East Burke Middle School Lady Raiders basketball team seemed to control the pace in Thursday's road contest with the Heritage Middle School Lady Eagles leading 13-3 after one quarter, 18-7 at halftime, and 29-9 at the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Eagles proceeded to take charge in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lady Raiders 17-6 only to fall 35-26 to their cross-town rivals.
Mati Kincaid led the charge for Heritage scoring nine of her game-high 14 total points in the last period of play with Kylie Corpening also contributing six points.
Kendall McFalls countered for East Burke scoring four of her nine total points in the fourth quarter with Saleen Franklin making two free throws.
Sydney Mosteller led the Lady Raiders with 12 points as Addie Brittain (5), Sarabeth Bradley (4), and Sonny Burns (3) also contributed points.
Lindsey Hensley (4) and Bailey Winkler (2) were other Lady Eagle scorers.

East Burke 46, Heritage 22
11 first-quarter points from Sam Keaton set the tone for the East Burke Middle Raiders basketball team in Thursday's road win over Heritage.
Keaton finished with 19 points as Tyler Brown scored game-high honors with 20 points, including 11 third-quarter points.
Caden Barker led Heritage with 12 points, eight scored in the second half, as Camryn Sidden (4), Titus Dodd (2), Jesiah Johnson (2), and Jeron Davis (2) also scored for the Eagles.
Other Raider scorers were Colt Butcher (3), RJ Williams (2), and Trevor Bentley (2).
