VOLLEYBALL
Suttles at Pfeiffer
Kira Suttles (Draughn 2019) completed her first season of volleyball at Pfeiffer University finishing second in assists (172) in 12 total matches.
Her other totals included 56 digs, seven aces, and five kills.
SOFTBALL
Davis/Moody at Caldwell CC
The Caldwell CC softball team won the NJCAA Division II Region 10 western regional championship this season featuring the talents of Draughn's Jenna Davis and East Burke's Taylor Moody.
Davis earned second-team honors on the All-Region team by recording a .321 batting average with 27 runs off 42 hits (5 doubles, 3 triples) and batting in 13 runs.
Her leading performances came against Surry CC (four hits, three runs), Patrick Henry (three hits, two doubles, two runs), and Cleveland CC (three hits, four runs, three RBIs).
Moody finished with a .281 batting average in 40 games off 18 hits (3 doubles), 14 RBIs, and nine runs.
She was able to have a two RBI, one run performance at the plate vs. Surry CC and Catawba Valley CC.
The Lady Cobras finished with a 26-16 overall record.
Buruato at App State
Gabby Buruato (Draughn 2016) completed her softball career at Appalachian State University by leading the Lady Mountaineers in batting average (T-1st, .326), hits (46), doubles (T-1st, 8), and triples (T-1st, 3).
Buruato also ranked third in runs (22) with scoring 52 in her four total seasons in Boone.
Her biggest performance this season came in a three-game series vs. UNC-Greensboro compiling six hits, four runs, and seven RBIs.
Davis at Pfeiffer
Reece Davis (East Burke 2017) completed her softball career at Pfeifer University by playing in 29 games for the Lady Falcons recording a .256 batting average with six runs off 21 hits (four doubles, 1 HR) and 15 RBIs.
Davis had a two-hit performance in seven games including a three-RBI game vs. Brevard.
She also pitched in six games tossing seven strikeouts.
Hildebran at L-R
Graleigh Hildebran (East Burke 2020) completed her freshman season at Lenoir-Rhyne University by playing in 11 total games for the Lady Bears.
Her lone hit was a solo home run vs. Pfeiffer University with recording a .986 fielding percentage at catcher making 71 catches and 67 putouts.
Seagle at Surry CC
Lexi Seagle (East Burke 2019) played in 21 games for Surry CC recording three hits (2 doubles) and scoring three runs.
Seagle also pitched in six games, tossing nine strikeouts with a 1.83 ERA by eight runs on eight hits and two walks.
BASEBALL
Melton at Brevard
Ben Melton (Draughn 2017) completed his final season at Brevard College earning his lowest ERA (3.06) and tying for second in strikeouts pitched (27) in six games with a 3-0 mark.
His three wins as a Tornadoes right-hander came against Pfeiffer (5 inn, 6 H, 3 R, 4 K), Covenant (5 inn, 4 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 2 K), and Huntingdon (6.1 inn, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K).
He also was awarded the final pitcher of the week from the USA South Conference.
Treadway at Emory & Henry
Nathan Treadway (Draughn 2018) played in 21 games for Emory & Henry College scoring seven runs off 15 total hits, including two home runs against Ferrum and Washington & Lee.
He also totaled ten runs batted in with a season-high two RBI's vs Shenandoah and Washington & Lee.
Jodway at Marshall
Nick Jodway (Draughn 2017) played all seven games in his junior season at Marshall University on the mound pitching for five total innings, allowing 11 runs on nine hits and four walks to toss nine strikeouts with a season-high three vs Florida Atlantic.
LACROSSE
Hildebran at St Andrews
Faith Hildebran (East Burke) played in 14 games for St Andrews University scoring 13 goals off 22 shots on goal, including a three-goal performance vs Warren Wilson College.
Hildebran also added seven assists including a season-high two vs Breanau (GA) University.
Ruppard at Montreat
Ashley Ruppard (Draughn) played eight games in her final season at Montreat College scoring one goal and recording an assist vs. Warren Wilson College.
TRACK & FIELD
Abernathy/Reeves at Lees McRae
Cooper Abernathy (Draughn 2017) completed his career at Lees McRae finishing fifth in the javelin throw, sixth in the shot put, ninth in the hammer throw, and 13th in the discus throw at the Conference Carolinas outdoor championship meet.
His shot put mark of 12.80 meters was his best of the season while his season-best hammer throw mark of 44.42 meters came at the LR Bears Open to finish runner-up behind former Draughn teammate Dawson Sigmon.
He also added a season-best javelin throw mark of 45.87 meters at the Montreat College Invitational finishing fifth.
Abernathy also still holds the discus throw outdoor school record of 40.28 meters.
Jessica Reeves (Draughn 2018) placed ninth in the javelin throw and 14th in the long jump at the Conference Carolinas championship meet.
Sigmon at L-R
Dawson Sigmon (Draughn 2017) placed 14th in the hammer throw and 24th in the shot put at the South Atlantic Conference outdoor championship meet.
His winning hammer throw mark at the LR Bears Open was 45.53 meters, just 1.11 meters ahead of former Draughn teammate Cooper Abernathy.
Card at Montreat
MacKenzie Card (East Burke 2020) set a school record of 33.21 meters in the hammer throw at the Columbia International University invite.
At the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship meet, Card finished 12th in the hammer throw.
GOLF
Parker at North Greenville
Alex Parker (Draughn 2017) completed his final season with the golf team at North Greenville University placing 37th (79, +7) at the Cherokee Valley Invitational and 29th (226) at the Conference Carolinas championship.
Sigmon at Pfeiffer
Ezekiel Sigmon (Draughn 2019) placed in the top ten twice in event wins for the Pfeiffer University men's golf team placing 6th (160, +16) at the Diamondback Invitational hosted by Mars Hill and in a tie for fifth (156, +12) at the Pfeiffer Invitational.
Leonard at Montreat
Ben Leonard (Draughn 2019) placed in the top 30 three times at Montreat in the Bulldog Spring Inv (14th), CIU Spring Inv (18th), and the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship (28th).
