One of the numerous Cavalier records set by Luke Elliott in the boys 1000 meters (2:47.86) was held for 22 years by Jonathan Dameron (1998), a former East Burke and Draughn cross country and track & field coach.

Elliott also won the 1600 meters event in a new personal record time of 4:50.77 at a meet hosted by Bunker Hill last Thursday.

Other East Burke records were set by Noah Rooks (boys shot put, 43-00.50), Reagan Robinson (girls pole vault, 10-00), and Gracie Ruff (girls 300 meters, 47.57).

"Everyone who participated did very well," said East Burke coach AJ Schwankert. "We (also) had a trio reach a season goal of qualifying for the State Championships."

Rooks, Robinson, and Elliott were the Cavalier performers to earn state qualifications at Saturday's meet.

East Burke will be at the WNC Polar Bear Championship meet hosted by Polk County on February 1st.
