Draughn boys, East Burke to play in Freedom Christmas Invitational

An always Christmas holiday tradition continues in Burke County with the Freedom Christmas Invitational basketball tournament running on three consecutive days December 26th to the 28th with all games being played at FHS.

The Draughn boys return for a second-consecutive year after finishing runner-up to the host Patriots and will play North Buncombe at 2:30pm.

Both East Burke teams also return for another appearance with matchups against Enka at 4:00pm (girls) and 5:30pm (boys).

The Lady Cavaliers finished third in last season's tournament with the boys placing in last place.

The Draughn girls, playing in last year's tournament, will not be returning this season and currently don't have plans for games during Christmas break.

The tournament kicks off at 10am with the last game scheduled for 8:30pm.

Semifinals are scheduled for December 27th at times of 4, 5:30, 7, and 8:30.

The championship games will be played on December 28th at 7 and 8:30.
