HS Football Week Three

Draughn (0-2) @ Foard (0-2)
Series Record: 2-0, Foard (3rd meeting)
Last Year's Result: Foard 54, Draughn 7
Last Week's Games: Freedom 60, Draughn 14; Bandys 27, Foard 7

Top Performers:
Draughn- Khe-Nai Banks, Braxton Cox
Foard- Corey Siemer, Will Frye

Coach's Quote:
"Last week we saw some good things. Offensively we were able to move the ball well at times. Khe-Nai Banks did a great job for us on special teams, racking up almost 200 yards in returns. Defensively we still have to sure up tackling and getting more aggressive. Right now we are really missing those one or two kids that love to fly around and hit."

"Moving forward to this week, both teams are 0-2 with a chance to be 1-0 in conference, an opportunity we need to take advantage of. Foard is a very solid team, losing to two teams in Maiden and Bandy’s. They have the top RB (Siemer) back this year and he’s a tough hard runner. Their QB (Frye) is quick and can scramble. We have to stop the run and keep contain and most importantly tackle. Their defensive line is solid so we are going to have to work hard up front and get our run game established. If we do the small things right this week, we have a great chance to get in the win column."

East Burke (1-1) @ Freedom (1-1)
Series Record: 27-18, Freedom (46th meeting)
Last Year's Result: Freedom 55, East Burke 13
Last Week's Games: McDowell 41, East Burke 28; Freedom 60, Draughn 14

Top Performers:
E Burke- Josh Moore, Brett Childers, Cody Huffman
Freedom- Jayden Birchfield, Desmond Caldwell, Damian Dula

Coach's Quote:
"Trying to build on a disappointing loss at McDowell, the team played hard but turnovers early in-game and not making a credible stop on defense left our team playing catch up"

"Freedom may be the strongest opponent we face all year, well-coached on both sides of the ball. The offense will put pressure on you with a balanced attack, the defense will attack you. East Burke will have to control big plays from their offense and keep the ball on offense"
