Vale- The Draughn volleyball team kicked off the 2019 season on the road gaining three-set wins over Mitchell Tuesday and West Lincoln Thursday.
"I am very proud of all of my girls and how hard they have worked," said Lady Wildcats volleyball coach Jamie Ward. "Our focus this year is returning to the fundamentals of volleyball and limiting errors, no matter the opponent and score, and they did just that (vs. West Lincoln)."
Kirsten Powell led the Lady Wildcats (2-0) with 13 kills and Haygen Sigmon adding a team-best four serving aces.
Chloe Gary (8 assists, 4 kills) and Georgia Goulding (3 blocks, 2 kills) also contributed in the win.
Draughn stays on the road Monday vs. Maiden before Tuesday's home opener with Avery County.
